The greatest knife I've ever purchased! Mar 19, 2008
By V. Smith I am a soldier curently serving in Iraq and can say without a doubt this is one tough knife. I have used it as a knife, a hammer, and a pry bar among other things and it can take it all and then some.

BUCK quality in an all-around great knife. Sep 03, 2010
By Ready2Fly This is an excellent all-around knife. It is good for military, general utility or any othe purpose. Tough enough to pry with and comfortable to use all day long. The steel is 420HC. Now, some people (steel snobs) will say that it's a low-end steel. But that's not true. Buck's heat treat makes this steel perform very well. The edge is hollow ground which means that the edge is still thin enough to cut well despite 1/4" blade thickness. With the durability also comes weight. Keep in mind, this is not the lightest knife for it's size. For the price, i think that both the short and longer Nighthawks are an excellent value. You don't have to spend an army and a leg to get American made quality knife.

Great bargain, almost perfect Sep 24, 2009

I picked this knife up for $20 at WalMart while looking for a cheap knife to use for general yard work. It is an exceptionally good value. The knife is sturdy, holds an edge well, and sharpens nicely. Balance is good and the handle is comfortable and grips well. This is important to me because it gets muggy and hot in S. Florida and perspiration can make a cheap handle very dangerous.
I use this knife extensively in my yard to do everything including trimming palms, opening coconuts, slicing up mangoes, clearing vines and woody stems along my fence, and even chopping down some nuisance saplings.
It was only recently that I tried to replace it and realized that I can't find it for less than $45 :O. But even at that price, I'm still getting another.

A good buy. Dec 31, 2009

I've had this knife for several months and I must say it's very sturdy and has a comfortable grip.
The only problem I have with it is that the rubber grip on the handle is vulnerable to scraches. Although, I s'pose that might be expected with this kind of handle.
It's well worth the money!

Good knife for the money Mar 08, 2011
By Kevin I have had this knife for about 2 years. I have taken it camping several times. Its keeps a edge, easy to sharpen. I haven't put it through much since when i took it camping it wasn't really remote camping. I would say just by holding it you can tell its a solid knife, its worked great since i have had it. I would recommend this knife to anyone for a hunting or non-remote camping.
