Coleman Ash Canyon sleeping bag Dec 26, 2006
By Penny Milford

I did a lot of research before choosing this sleeping bag. It has been everything I expected, and more. The bag is very well made, the zipper is smooth and non-binding. The Ash Canyon is very comfortable, and the flannel lining around your face is nice. This bag is both longer & wider than the norm, which is exactly what I was looking for. I've used it in extreme heat (zipped out flat and covering up with a sheet) and fairly cold (but not 20-30 degrees, for which it is rated-I'm not nuts!). If you want some extra cold-weather insurance, put a polar fleece blanket in your pack. I really like the little pocket up by your face, too. It's handy to store a pack of earplugs, in case your camping buddies snore. If I had to do it all over, I would definitely buy this sleeping bag again.

Happy Camper Aug 10, 2006
By walker105 I ordered the sleeping bag for my 20 year old son. The bag itself is a comfortable weight, the lining is soft and the colors are attractive. I like the "lining on the outside at the top" feature - this way your face is next to the flannel at all times. The velcro pocket on the exterior is thoughtful and the attached bag sewn onto the sleeping bag (that you stuff the bag into) is handy.

Great Bag / Great Price Sep 29, 2009

I also did a lot of research on what kind of bag to get before I decided to purchase this one. I'm a stomach sleeper and use 3 pillows, one under each shoulder, one under my stomach--so I needed a wider bag to accomodate this. Positives of this bag: it really does keep you warm. I just returned from tent camping in the Catskills, and on night 1 the temp got down to 30 degrees. This bag is rated for 25, but even at 30 degrees, I was actually a little on the too-warm side. The cotton flannel lining is very cozy, the Ziplow zipper is sturdy and lives through a lot of tugging. Another reviewer said a downside was that the bag cover is attached, and you have to have the bag placed zipper-left with the cover under the bag, otherwise you've got the cover flapping in your face--I agree, this is annoying. I'll probably cut the cover off. The only other minor issue I have is that since the bag is cotton inside and out, it tends to feel damp during rain storms/high humidity, but I have to say that it dries out very quickly in the tent during the day (even quicker when hung over a line) and it still keeps you warm even when it's damp.

Comfortable and Big Apr 28, 2008
By rebecca I very much enjoyed this big, comfortable sleeping bag! It, of course, doesn't wrap up as small as it came, which is slightly annoying. But the only thing I am unhappy about is that I have to go to a cleaners or a laundry mat with an industrial sized washer to wash it (I don't camp very much so I didn't expect that sort of thing).
Otherwise, I love the feel and comfort. This sleeping bag came in very handy when the temperatures dropped to the high 30's and I used the bag to completely cover me and keep me warm!

Hardly a 25 degree sleeping bag Aug 19, 2008
By Mr. Richard R. Retin The bag is rated for 25 degrees, but I found I was very cold when it was 50 degrees outside (I had a thermometer with me). It is very comfortable and I like the larger size. I just need to bring a heavy woolen blanket to use over the bad to keep really warm.
