1Unbelievably bad  Jan 03, 2006
By Alan
Thought I would save a few bucks over REI for a sleeping pad - don't do it! Number one, it didn't self-inflate at all. Number two, it was twisted so that the bottom of the pad sits at a 45 degree angle from the top of the pad. Number three, when you inflate it, it's super-puffy, like a pool toy. Number four, it's incredibly uncomfortable, with giant pits all over it - and I'm not picky!

I can't believe Coleman is willing to put their name on this garbage. Take my word, it is suck-worthy. You'll just end up returning it.

1I expected more from Coleman!  Jun 07, 2006
By kboy33
I have been reading reviews on this site for several years, but have never written one until today. Unfortunately, I didn't research this item before buying three of them for my children. I have always had good experiences with Coleman products and was very excited when I saw these in the store. Unfortunately, these pads don't make the cut and are going back to the store tomorrow. First, they don't inflate very well (I tried self-inflating 2 of them). After 15 minutes they were only half full and they never filled completely. Second, they filled unevenly and became very puffy in some places. Third, they were very uncomfortable. I would rather sleep on the gorund. I could have blown up three $2.00 pool mattresses/rafts in a fraction of the time and they would have been more comfortable. At $30.00 each, I expected more.

I did notice that Coleman makes another self inflating pad without the billowy pockets. Maybe I'll give that one a try before I go back to a standard foam pad or air mattress. When I think of Coleman products I usually think reliable quality products at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, this item does not deliver and I would have to give it a thumbs down....Sorry!

5Great!  Jul 30, 2007
By Humberto Perez Salazar "hps"
I've just bought this mat, used it for two nights and I really slept as if I was at home. It's anything but portable, so I would really won't recomend it for backpacking-camping. On the other side, if you are going to a camp site on your jeep or truck it's something you should have. The pilow has an independent valve, so you may inflate it untill you fill it confortable.

3Not as bad as the other reviews say  Jul 06, 2010
By Paul E. Murin
I actually kinda like this thing. It is NOT an air mattress, so it does not inflate very much. I believe the other users who reviewed it so negatively probably tried to over-inflate it, which does indeed make it uncomfortable. Basically, you open the valve, let it self-inflate for a minute or so, and then top it off by blowing a few breaths of air into it. Done properly, it's quite comfortable under your sleeping bag. Maybe not as good as a $100 pad from REI, but for the money it's not too shabby.

3Very good quality, not as comphy as it looks  Jul 21, 2008
By Jonathan H. Amsbary
This is a very high quality pad. Solid and durable. It is NOT as comfortable as it appears in the image. I wish it was thicker, I will probably need to buy something else to use with it. It does fit a camp cot very well.
