Coleman propane camp stove Jul 31, 2010 We used our new stove for the first time while camping for a week at an elevation of 7500 feet. One propane cylinder lasted for 8 2-course meals and hot water for clean-up (extra for cleaning us up) and many large pots of coffee. It always lit on the first try, and it cleaned up easily.
I can't imagine tent camping without a Coleman stove.
Great all around stove Jul 26, 2010 I owned this model stove for many years and it provided reliable service. A nice thing about a propane stove is that it can be used indoors with relative safety if there is a power outage. However, one red flag. The aluminum drip pan is almost impossible to clean, should something spill over. I made the mistake of using oven cleaner on my old stove and the residue quickly turn the stove into a rust heap. My fault - not the stove's. But still, it seems that Coleman could use an improved material to catch the spills and be easy to clean up.
Good camping stove Jun 22, 2010 It does what it's suppose to do. It's not perfect, but definitely a life saver when you have to cook a meal away from home.

Coleman cuts corners on this model Feb 22, 2010 I have owned and loved a 5430C Coleman 2 burner propane stove for 6 years and recently ordered, directly from Coleman, another 5430, now produced in the F model, so that I could have a total of 4 burners on matching stoves. The first hint I had that the F model was deserving of the "F" designation was when I reached in the box and slightly cut my finger on the base which had not been properly fastened and tucked inside the lip of the top during manufacture. My first thought was that it had been damaged in shipping but there were no marks on the box and no dents in the thin sheet metal. Unlike the older model C which had rolled steel edges, sturdy hinges, and a positive locking latch, the model F has rough edges with abrasive burrs that remained exposed even after I disassembled it and put it back together with the base tucked into the top as it was designed. The lid has a piece of plastic that serves as a latch by snapping into a cutout on the top but it did not even make contact with the lip of the cutout. Using my fingers I warped the lid enough to get it to fit but when carrying the stove by the roughly cut hole that serves as a handle the lid pops open. I will say the burners work well but the construction is cheap, poorly assembled, and is a first aid event waiting to happen. The sad part is the printing on the box which says "MADE IN USA". As an Eagle scout, former assistant scoutmaster, avid RVer, and owner of various Coleman cooking and lighting appliances dating from WWII to the present, I am disappointed in a brand whose name has always been right there with apple pie, hot dogs, and the 4th of July. I can't say I won't buy Coleman in the future but I will, without a doubt, compare other brands for quality regardless of their country of origin. Wake up Coleman and spend a few more cents per unit to rebuild your reputation for quality. Your grade on this one is an "F"
Propane stove Oct 23, 2009 I have this stove hooked to a "tree" along with my propane lantern and both are working out fine. I like the fact that both burners put out the same amount of heat and I don't have to switch the pans back and forth on the burners. I can just adjust each burner to the heat that I want and cook right on. I would not hesitate to buy another one when I need it.
