Excellent, light hiking shoe Feb 19, 2007
By Kathleen Cavell I have worn these shoes for 2 months now but tend to go out hiking 4-6 times per week. I have enjoyed the arch support, adequate padding and great traction of these light-weight shoes. I highly recommend them for anyone interested in walking or hiking without the need for boots.

a bit heavy Jul 22, 2007
By S. Liu The shoes are definitely for fall/winter uses. well constructed, thick, and have good support. However, they are also a bit heavy. For $30 it's a good buy if you are looking a pair of fall/winter hiking shoes. --SL

Comfort and style Aug 23, 2007

I purchased these shoes before a hiking trip in the mountains and I'm SO glad that I did. The traction was great in the rocky and muddy areas and I was amazed how comfortable they were during my first time wearing them--I didn't have to break these shoes in at all. They also look great on!
My only complaint is that I notice after wearing these shoes for several hours (5-6 hours) during strenuous walking or hiking, I notice that my arches start to feel sore, almost a pinching sensation. These shoes have a noticeable arch built in and for my foot, it makes them slightly uncomfortable, and more uncomfortable as I'm more active. I do, however, recommend these shoes to any woman who enjoys moderate day hiking or even long walking during State Fairs or similar events, as they provide comfort and stability during such activity. I would not recommend these shoes, however, for more serious hikers.
Also, I took the advice of other reviewers and purchased a half size too big--I wear a 9 in EVERYTHING, but the 9.5 in these shoes were perfect. I tried the 9 on at a retailer (which sold these for a much higher price) and it was too tight around my entire foot. SO GO FOR THE HALF SIZE BIGGER!

I was looking through a local (chain) outfitter this past weekend, and on the sale table, there was ONE pair of these shoes, in a 10.5 womens - which is VERY hard to find! I took one look in the box and had to try them on. I have a pain in my heel from a partially ruptured plantar fascia tendon - it's like a knife in the bottom of my foot all the time - and I walk with a decided limp because of it. I've tried all sorts of cushions and pads, to no avail. I put this pair of shoes on and experienced a sort of miracle on the spot - I stood up and could walk without ANY pain whatsoever! I don't know what it is about these shoes - but I have no pain in my heel at all when I walk. My gait even changed and I was walking with no limp, more upright (chronic back pain - post 2 surgeries including a fusion - makes me lean forward when it's bad) and faster. Since they were on the sale table, I made absolutely sure they fit and were comfortable, including the arch support, which is exactly where it needs to be - also a rare experience. I try and walk/day hike as much as possible as my best exercise, and I'm sure these shoes are going to make all the difference. I'm convinced - that one pair on the table in my size had to be a sign!

I bought these shoe after an extended online search. I got them on sale from Cabelas. They had good reviews and I have to agree with those positives.
The shoes fit perfectly. The first time I wore them on a 2-3 mile hike and they were comfortable from the get go.....no breaking in required.
