My son and I LOVE this backpack. The outer mesh pocket is GREAT for easy shoving in of coats, sweaters etc. The water bottle pockets are great on the sides and the shoe compartments keep yucky sneakers separate. Fits a large school binder easily and also has top little compartment with cord hole for keeping iPod or other small treasures at hand. Used it HARD for two years and just bought identical replacement because we love the features.

I think High Sierra makes some of the best quality bags around and this is no exception. It's a struggle to fit a full size basketball into and out of the mesh ball pouch. I imagine a soccer or volleyball would be just fine.

This bag is perfect for my son's soccer ball. Unfortunately I purchased it for his basketball equipment. Instead we are using it for his soccer equipment.

My only complaint about this backpack is that the color, chipotle, is an orange color, not the dark red pictured. This backpack is perfect for kids who need to tote books to & from middle school or high school. I got this backpack as a replacement for some off-brand I found at Target for the same price whose strap had shredded towards the top handle from excess weight. My son has to lug 1 heavy literature book & 3 workbooks to & from middle school daily. With only a few days use so far, he loves this backpack. I'm curious to see if the straps shred like the other one did or if this backpack will endure the load until the end of the school year. The mesh pouch in front has ample room for his jacket AND P.E. clothes. It also has a click-in-place latch to keep items from falling out, which is a HUGE plus. The waterbottle mesh on the side is roomy enough for a large waterbottle. The zippered side pocket is weird but my son liked this to put his library book in. The top zippered pocket is perfect for his wallet, pens, pencils & other various school items he has to lug around. My son was worried that all his items wouldn't fit. It all fit just fine.
