Quality made product Feb 12, 2008 My first hike with these poles was a 10.2 mile loop in the Tuscarora mountains here in 'Rock'sylvania. I am about 280 lbs. and carried a 20 lb pack that day. Due to my weight I was concerned how these ultralite poles would hold up. As it turned out I was highly impressed with the poles performance as well as my own. Countless times I had 6-8 inches of the pole tips wedged within rocks on climbs and downhills. Many times I placed a lot of weight on the poles to keep myself from falling on slippery downhill switchbacks. There was 3" of snow on the ground that day. I put these poles through a lot of flexing and tweaking thinking that they would surely be bent into 90 degree angles by the end of the day.
When I arrived back at my jeep I checked the poles for damage. They held up perfectly. There was no damage whatsoever and as straight as ever.
The cork grips were great. They stayed dry and comfortable. I had one pole collapse during the day. I re-tightened it and it was good to go.
I have since used these poles for another 70+ miles over the past couple months and they continue to amaze me with their durability considering the stress I put them through. I would certainly recommend using poles if you hike a lot of hills, rocks, or slippery terrain. And I would recommend Leki Ultralite Ti Cor-Tec poles.
hiking poles Feb 20, 2007 Very light. Comfortable handle. They vibrate when I put them down hard. I wish I would have ordered anti shock.
