Good bag, but . . . Nov 21, 2006
By Rod Harris This bag is good for bike touring - my intended use. And it might serve as in insert for my three season bag for winter camping. It gets five stars for utility and exceptional value.
The problem, though not the fault of Lafuma or of this particular bag, is this: Most sleeping bags sold in the U.S. are claimed to be as much as 20 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than they really are.
The Lafuma-France website lists the minimum comfort level for this bag to be 11 degrees Celsius (52 degrees F.) for inexperienced users.
For experienced users, the minimum comfort level is 8 degrees C. (46 degrees F.).
The extreme lower limit is -5 degrees C. (24 degrees F.). At that point, the experienced user will feel uncomfortably cold but survive; the inexperienced user risks hypothermia after a few hours. All three ratings are according to Norme Francaise standard tests using a heat-producing manikin dressed in long underwear and socks.
The French rating system is good; it served as the basis for the new European Norm standards for sleeping bags. Wish we had them here. As it is, American bags tested by the Europeans indicated that the claimed comfort level was overstated by so much that an unsuspecting user could experience hypothermia.
If you want more information, check out European Outdoor Group and a Mammut subsidiary, Ajungilak (downloads). There is a handy chart that will tell you how warm a bag likely is by comparing its weight and fill. Sleep well.

By TC Great if you don't actually need a sleeping bag. I thought, "It's cheap and light, probably great for beaching camping in southern Baja, Mex." I froze even with two blankets.

lafuma 600 sleeping bag Jan 22, 2009
By paulpanchula agn as u will see in my other reviews this is 5 star rating. bt read on. the other reviewer here is being quite forethright when he tells u tht ths bag has a true comfort rating of abt 52F. i think thts stretching it a bit. bt he s on target. what he ddnt tell u is tht this bag is really nt gonna b enough...period. so if u wanna buy ths bag...let me gv u the skinny. stay above 60F. if u evn think u may see cooler then i urgu u to get 2 bags. when it gets colder put 1 inside the other+its pretty warm. NOTE: this bag(in a pinch)will stuff down to the sz of 2cans of pepsi. as a tip bring a little tape+ =it ll blow ur mind at how small these become. if your idea is compactness...then 2of these can be carried+stored alm anywhere...evn hanging off the back of your neck. there are real advantages to hving these small bags. all in all kp to abt 35F. using 2bags. if u nd lower temp than that consider lafuma's (moab)
