Firstly I need to point out that I don't use these spoons for backpacking and I've never used the built-in tools. I bought these for road trips: I take chana masala or chunky soups in single-size Thermos food containers and these spoons are perfect for this use. They are lightweight, obviously not as lightweight as Titanium, and sturdy with a long handle. The tip of the spoon, unlike regular table spoon, it rounded with an almost flat tip which makes it easier to scoop food at the bottom of the Thermos container. The shape of the spoon makes it easy to scoop and spread peanut butter and chunks of bread torn from a baguette.
These spoons are not cheap (well, for a single spoon they are not), but they will last a lifetime. We use them frequently and are satisfied with them.

It's little short and quite heavy. I didn't like it as a spoon and not quite sure what is it good for as a tool.
