Part Of Your Personal Emergency Plan Dec 18, 2006
By James Tedford I bought one of these to be able to keep side dishes warm (beans, gravy, BBQ Sauce, etc.) when I barbeque. It does that very well. Then we had a big windstorm -- power out for four days. Thanks to the Max Burton burner, I could heat water for coffee and tea, heat canned soup and stews, boil water for washing dishes, cook oatmeal and scrambled eggs.
The key thing with this unit is that you can cook safely indoors. Camp stoves, gas grills, and other devices are DANGEROUS TO USE INSIDE THE HOUSE. DON'T DO IT!! The Max Burton burner is save to use in your kitchen, and makes a HUGE difference between freezing in the dark, and having hot food and coffee to help you weather the storm. (While you are at it, get yourself a Melita or french press coffee pot.)
The Max Burton butane stove is something every Responsible Citizen should have. Go buy one NOW, before the next disaster hits!

By Gill A. Philip Max Burton table top is GREAT. Cook out doors perfect for fish if you do not want to smell up the house. Place on any sturdy table. Fuel is easy to find at any Big 5 store, or camping store.

great with one strange thing Apr 30, 2009
By teresacooks I bought this for my temporary kitchen while remodeling. It is working great, but leaving a sticky black film all over the bottom of my (all-clad) pots that is impossible to remove and rubs off on other stuff. . . so just be aware of this.

Easy to use--that's what I like Nov 13, 2009
By Veggie Lori Since I'm in a review writing mood right now, I am doing one on this product as well. I got one of these stoves because a friend of mine uses one and sometimes two in her cooking demo classes. When I started to give cooking demo's now and then, too, I got one of these great little stoves. It's easy to transport, operate and seems quite dependable--has been for me now for a year, and seems to always have been for my friend as I've witnessed her using them in her classes for the past 5-6 yrs. I've only thought of using this item in the way I've described, but after reading the other reviews, now I've know of more ways it can be of service. It's really handy for my purpose and having it for emergency power outages seems great, also. Thanks to that reviewer! In regards to the other reviewers, I've never had problems having sticky black films on my pans after use. Don't know what that's all about. And I also would recommend the manufacturer let potential purchasers know what the fuel is that is needed and where to get it. I guess I can see why it wouldn't be safe to ship with the product itself with its contents under pressure. But I get my fuel cans at the local hardware store and they're only 2.99 ea. Easy peasy!

Handy little item. Dec 08, 2010
By Boo Pugh First off, I must admit I didn't purchase this on Amazon. I've had the burner for several years and bought it at a large truckstop in Virginia.
I've taken it camping several times, used it outside in addition to my propane grill, and have used it several times inside (no combustibles nearby, kept the flame lit at all times, paid attention to the flame, and had good air circulation...not dead yet). I love it, and am using in it our little off-grid cabin to make skillet meals and heat water for hot chocolate and tea.
Now, for the fuel canisters...it has been my experience that you really, REALLY want to use the Burton fuel canisters. I've picked up several off brand cans from the local Asian market to use, and even though they fit and worked, they had problems. Mainly, they sputtered all the time and I had to watch the flame closely since they would either flare up badly or go out altogether. I never have that problem when I'm able to find the Burton butane cartridges.
As with any combustible, good judgment and caution is necessary. That being said, I like my burner and will continue to use it as long as possible.
