THE BEST IV'E OWNED Dec 13, 2009 Thank you, Princeton Tec, for making a headlamp that is designed for functionality.
As a contractor, I spend a lot of time in attics, crawlspaces, and other low light areas. The Vortec 4AA uses REAL BULBS, not LEDS, that make a weird colored light. It turns ON and it turns OFF, without having to step through several different brightness settings with a blinky light at the end. The eight hour burn time between battery changes is very tolerable, not a problem at all. Light output is very good. Wish beam width was adjustable, but is still okay. Able to aim beam, and it stays where you aim it. Not heavy, stays put on head, nice straps. Seems well made, I change batteries often, so I'm a little worried about the battery cover snaps, (time will tell). Can change batteries in total darkness with ease. I hope Princeton Tec doesn't change the design, or stop making this lamp. I am ordering a few more just in case.

outstanding product at a reasonable price! Dec 01, 2009 I am totally satisfied with the performance and realiability of this headlamp. No wires, belt battery packs, and a very bright light easy to use with a forever battery and bulb life. I have used this headlamp for several years in all Illinois winter/spring/summer/fall hunting conditions without a failure. Still using the original bulb that came with the unit. This product only has a white light capability however I do not consider that a detriment as the unit performs exceptionally well! At under $30.00 this product blows away anything else on the market! Great product and it is made in the USA. I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone. I am ordering one for my son in law a dedicated deer bow and gun hunter. Illinois Deer Hunter.

Great Headlamp Aug 03, 2008 This is a very solid headlamp. It is bright. It is substantially well made. I believe it is waterproof. It turns on with a simple twist of the wrist to the right, and turns off with a twist to the left. You twist the black part. There is no adjusting the width of the beam. It is a narrow beam and twisting it on further doesn't seem to do anything at all. This is the way I like it so it is perfect for me. Other headlamps start narrow and adjust wide, or start wide and adjust narrow. Not this one, just narrow. The straps are very strong. I really like my Vortec.
