Handy compass for the key chain May 09, 2007

The compass is almost too big for the key chain, but I make it work. I was planning on getting Suunto's gem compass (bit smaller), but that was out of stock. This includes a nice thermometer; however, it is best for a ballpark reading of +-2.5 degrees. The compass includes a bezel, which could be useful if you're trying to stay on a certain heading for awhile, but I would not use this for orienteering.

It is frequently useful for checking if I'm walking an unfamiliar city, or also while driving. Nice product.

This a a great little compass for hanging on your outer clothing for winter activities. The compass is accurate and is quite handy when snowshoeing or cross country skiing. It also has a thermometer and windchill chart.

The Suunto Comet is a great compass. But be careful. Check your shopping cart. As of today (12 January 2011) clicking on "Add to cart" adds a different compass (the Clipper, not the Comet) to the cart

Any time I think of a compass I think Suunto. They have always made quality trustworthy products. My main compass has always been Suunto. I keep the thermometer/compass combo on one of my backpack zippers. Its not something that I would consider a "need". Its just nice to be able to check the temp when hiking and know that if something DID happen to my primary compass, I do have a mini back-up.

Its pretty good & accurate, and acclamates itself to the current tempatures pretty well.
I might get 1 more just in case it gets damaged.
