the best yet Sep 17, 2007
By Steve H This is a great mattress. Very comfortable and wide enough for a good sleep for the wider folks..
I wouldn't recommend if you are backpacking (due to weight and size) but if you're car camping or not trekking a long way - this is a great sleeping pad.

Therm-a-Rest Luxury Camp (XL) Sep 15, 2006
By L. Torndahl I bought this as an upgrade from our backpacking Thermarest pads for our ever increasing "car camping" for my husband with a bad back. He loves it. He says it is the only air matress he has ever been on that he can not feel any of the ground through, rocks and bumps and such. I can only say excellent things about it!

You get what you pay for here. Expensive but comfortable. Kinda heavy so not really for backpacking. Warning: All items that hold air will eventually leak.
Great sleeping pad Apr 27, 2010

We previously used the foam egg crate pads when camping, which was getting pretty rough on my back and sides.
I bought this after reading good reviews on various Therm-a-rest products. After received this i followed the instructions to over inflate it for 24 hrs, and made sure to store it in the back of the closet inflated until i needed it. After rolling it up and packing it out camping, it actually rolled much tighter and smaller than the foam (not as tight as the original package but thats ok with me.)
This pad kept me well above the cold ground and it certainly seemed much warmer than anything else i have previously tried. On flat ground the raised ridges on the pad help you and your sleeping bag stay put. However the only available campsite we could find was at an angle so no one stayed in the same place.
Some of the ratings i have read state that their new purchase was prompted by their 20yr+ pad finally giving out. This seems to be high quality and really durable, if it lasts the 20yrs i will be very satisfied.
But for now i am very pleased with my purchase and expect good things.
Amazing! Nov 18, 2009
By C. L. Hagensick I am amazed at how comfortable this Therm-a-Rest mat is, even for a plus-sized person. It is so thin that I didn't think it could possibly be that comfortable. It's much warmer than regular air mattresses and doesn't sag in the middle. Several nights on the floor - and no backache. It's expensive - but worth the money.
