Huge tent, with lots of room to move... Oct 02, 2006
By David Hostetler

I was leery of this tent because of the hammering in the review given to it by the person that wanted the Cabelas tent. I honestly have no clue what this person is fussing about. Yes the doors open from the bottom. They are U doors, and are advertised as such. This would mean that if you wanted to open the back door in particular for ventilation during a storm, you would get wet. Okay, that is a given. Fine, open the eyebrow windows and the lower air ports like you are supposed to... I figured out how to set this tent up in the dark, on a stormy night, with never having set it up before. It went up easy. The buckle tensioning system on the fly was a little weird to use the first time, but makes sense after seeing it used. There is LOTS of ventilation, and LOTS of room in this tent. Even without seam sealing it, it survived a Texas thunderstorm without a single drop of water inside. This tent provided lots of space, and I wouldn't hesitate to put a sizable family inside for an extended weekend stay at your favorite state park. The only issues I had with the tent had to deal with it's substantial proportions. At 20x10 feet, this thing is a monster. Larger in fact than many home bedrooms (And some efficiency apartments). This thing is a whopping 200 sq ft in volume! Many park campgrounds will not have sites large enough to accomodate a tent this large. But if you can find a place for it, this is a GREAT home away from home...
As this tent is NOT freestanding, it may be somewhat problematic for those that wish to beach camp, as you will need places to tie off to for the rain fly, and eyebrow windows. Aside from that, it is a reasonably self supporting tunnel design. The design and workmanship of this thing appear to be first rate. And for the price, I would happily buy 3 or 4 more so I can bring lots more friends along on my camping trips!

perfect size Aug 23, 2006
By Kelly When I purchaced this tent, I was not at all sure I would like it. When I used it I found it easy to assemble, spaceous and durable. I have been tent camping for years and in the past ten years I have involved my young children. Most of the tents do not survive them. I can tell by the zippers and material that this one will survive. I am very impressed.

Excellent tent: Job well done Jun 23, 2007
By I Alexis We picked up the tent yesterday and set it up in Northern Idaho for a first campout test. We needed a tent to camp with 11 dear ones and this one is as big as it states. The divider walls are stiched into the interior, but carry floor zippers and a centre vertical zipper, so once everybody is decent, one can enjoy the big family feeling and share and chat till the eyes are closed.
Quality is very nice. The floor is ok and I am going to buy a tarp to protect it. But the sides and rainfly are truly nicely done. Zippers are all very nice too.
The poles are fiberglass (except the front porch, which is steel). They have smarted up the sleaves for the poles: One single sleeve per pole, so it is very easy to put the pole through or out (it doesn't get stuck as it does in those multiple/successive sleeve tents.
The porch is pretty large, and allows you to leave things outside.
We set it up in half an hour with two persons and took it down and back into it's original carrybag in 20 minutes. Next time I expect these times to be just over half.
Ventilation is superb. This was one thing I was a bit concerned about before I bought it. The side windows and the screen ceiling, in combination with the rainfly cut gave excellent ventilation.
I love to camp and have camped for 40 years. I have seen many tents. My favorite one was a european two-sleeper that I could take up high into the mountains. It lasted me for 20 years. This one is certainly my second best. How long will it last? Maybe not 20 years, but the price is such that I would be totally satisfied even if it would last two seasons. I am convinced it will last much longer. There are more expensive tents, but I personally can not imagine a better 'genuine meeting the need' versus price ratio.

Great Tent Jun 20, 2007
By Mark Moore
"Camping Family"
Great Tent overall. My family of 6 lived in the tent for 6 nights 7 days on our first trip out this summer. Very comfortable with extra room for clothes and gear is nice. We would have given it 5 stars if the floor were a little better quality. Overall a great tent for the price and would buy another one if I needed it.

Design flaw allows water in. Jun 09, 2008
By D.D. I have been camping with my family for 15+ years. I purchased this tent at Cabelas when the zipper on the old one broke. It was a good looking tent. I was not able to see it opened up at the store but the picture looked like it would be a good idea. Fortunately, I set it up in the back yard before actually going camping.
The tent is very roomy but there are some design flaws to be aware of:
First, there is an arch on the back of the rain flap (red part) that you do not see in the picture. It is held up by a fiberglass rod with pressure against it when the rain flap is pulled forward. When the wind blows towards it, it falls down against the tent. This allows water to flow freely into the tent. It also stops all airflow through it, so the tent gets very hot.
Second, along the bottom of the tent is a "ventilation" screen. If you think of the molding that runs along the floor of your home, that is where this mesh screen is. You cannot see it from the outside. In a rain, water will flow down the walls of the tent and accumulate just outside the tent. It will then flow in through these "ventilation" screens and leave you camping in a pond.
The night I set the tent up in my backyard, it had rained. Not a terrible storm. Just a little rain. No one was in the tent. I came out the next morning to check it and sure enough, it had lots of water in it. I dried it out and took it back. I would advise anyone who sees this to not buy this tent. It looks good but it is not a good investment.
