Great Kids Tent Jun 04, 2007

Purchased this tent to take the grandkids along on our camping trip. Had them put it up, by reading the directions. They had it finished before our tent was up (they are 15 and 13 years old). I sealed the seams (always do) and rain was not a problem. I got this tent for $57.00 and I believe it is a great little tent for the money. Sleeps three comfortably or two grandkids with a whole lot of gear.

Solid tent for the money with a few minor issues Jun 06, 2008
By Jeff Gautrau Used this at a 2 day music festival and loved the design and roominess of this tent. This tent took a pretty good beating from the rain on the first day/night and held up great.
The only issues I had were the cheap plastic rings that are used to connect the rain fly to the tent stakes. When I was taking the tent down 2 of the 5 rings broke when I was unhooking them. Not a big deal in my eyes because I can replace all 5 with metal rings for next to nothing (think metal key chain rings!) The only other issue I had was that the small pole used over the doorway was missing an end cap, problem was easily resolved with a couple pieces of duct tape. I'm sure if I called the company they would have sent me a free one...but whatever
In summary, great tent for under $70. I give 4 out of 5 due to the little issues mentioned above...wish I could give 4.5. Highly recommended for a camper or hippie on a budget

Leaked on second use. May 28, 2008

It's a nice tent...roomy...has a sturdy floor...but it LEAKED the second time I put it up! The seams of the rain fly leaked where the "cargo net" hooks hung from. As much as I liked the cargo net...I could have done without it to have a tent that was watertight.
Also...I would prefer smaller ditty bags along the walls of the tent. I found that I had no place to store my glasses. I think I'll stick to a more name brand tent next time. If you're going to buy this tent...buy SEAM SEALENT and treat it before using it.

Good for the money Jul 19, 2008
By Robert R. Fisher The Wenzel North Star is a good tent for the money. I have had it up for 10 nights of camping including two nights of rain. I owned another Wenzel (50-60 nights use) for several years and I noticed several upgrades noted below.
Positives: I liked the pentagon shape which added room for storage in the corners. The air vent is a very nice upgrade. I placed a fan in the vent and we had cool air almost immediately. The tent pole rings and pegs were much stronger than the previous Wenzel I owned and should last a long time. The rain fly provided good coverage while allowing the user to keep the windows open a bit for ventilation.
Negatives: This is not a 4 person tent. Three adults will fill this up. I camp with my two boys so it is not a problem but keep that in mind. As with any tent you will need to seal the seems before heading out. That goes double for this tent. A minor complaint would be the mesh storage bag near the door. It was impossible to reach up and use with one hand. Not a big deal unless you are comfy in your bag and forget your keys.
Good value for the price Sep 06, 2008

I was easily able to set it up by myself. Don't think you could put more than 2 people and their stuff in it. But that worked out well.
